Business Games and Business Simulations

Paradigm Learning designs classroom-based business games and business simulations that are fun, challenging and effective. We use unique discovery learning techniques that have been pioneered and mastered over the years by our consultants and designers.

Are Paradigm Learning programs games or simulations? They’re actually a combination of both.

Business Simulations

A business simulation replicates a slice of “reality” from the work environment. It compresses time and allows learners to experiment with and experience that reality in a safe environment. A business simulation promotes intense engagement of learners and can be used to educate in a wide variety of subject areas.

Business Games

A business game is a competitive activity in which players, within a structured set of rules or guidelines, contend with obstacles, make decisions and work toward a goal. Challenges abound, and players interact with one another — individually or as part of a team — to “win.”

Paradigm’s programs place small teams of learners into a well-defined simulated situation with goals to achieve. Structure and guidelines help them work through obstacles, and game techniques (game boards, chips, dice, etc.) keep the action lively. Competition is encouraged — real learning is the reward.

Paradigm combines the best of both worlds — simulations and games — to give you a classroom learning experience that engages, challenges, enlightens and educates much more quickly than traditional training methods. They’re great fun — for a serious purpose.

Consider These Scenarios from Paradigm Learning’s Programs:

Zodiak®: The Game of Business Finance and Strategy
The scenario: Your team has just purchased a company for $40 million. You’ll attract investors, get loans, handle customer problems, make pricing decisions … and much more. For three years (actually about four hours), you’ll construct financial statements and deal with issues such as cash flow, accounts receivable and profit margins. The game board and chips are ready — are you?

Countdown®: A Strategy Game for Project Teams
The scenario: Your team will be working on a complex project that needs to meet quality requirements, deadlines and cost projections. Project sponsors come and go, suppliers fall short of expectations, requirements change — it’s certainly not a walk in the park. Gather around the game board and get ready to use a variety of project management tools to achieve success … or not.

Impact5: The Business of Leadership Game®
The scenario: You and your team have been hired to lead a department that is falling short of its objectives. You’ve got process glitches, people issues, productivity problems — to name just a few. And while you’re focusing on your own department’s results, you’ll need to work with other leaders to align strategies and ensure the company’s overall success. Will you be effective? Move the chips, roll the dice, tally the score — and find out!

Neon Buzz®: Lighting Up Organizational Performance
The scenario: You have just been hired at the Neon Buzz Company. You don’t know the goals of the company or your department. Targets are high, processes are broken and people aren’t talking. The work environment is challenging to say the least. To top it off, your manager isn’t very enlightened or responsive. It’s going to take a while for this organization to find its way to teamwork, empowering leadership and an effective work structure. Hang on for the ride!
